A little bit about some of our members...
I'm Andrew, a freelance Research Consultant, who last summer, with a 48th birthday fast approaching, decided it was high time to experience some motoring before it was too late! Having driven a succession of very sensible, but equally boring hatchbacks, including Metro’s, Panda’s and Clio’s, I decided that I needed a car with a gutsy engine and the opportunity to go topless! I briefly considered the Toyota MR2, but then went for a spin in a members car and that was that! I absolutely had to have one! Preferably yesterday!
The shear joy of rapid acceleration, sweet engine sounds and pinsharp handling won me over Bigtime. I was angry with myself for not getting one years ago - if only we could turn back time! I took delivery of my silver toy on the 31st May 2003, immediately joined the Owners Club and a week later enjoyed one of the best days of my summer at the Lulworth National Rally. My timing for once proved impeccable, enjoying one of the hottest summers on record, in a sports convertible would have great, but in the MX5, it was totally awesome!
Of course, just being bitten by the MX5 bug, it doesn’t just stop with having the car, you’ve got to make it better! With an induction kit for a bit more power, a strut brace, lowered suspension for improved handling and style bars for showing off, chrome interior, "girly angels wheels" and to top it off, spots for the front. Everyday I drive my car it puts a smile on my face, so in January tookover the role as MX5 Area Co ordinator for Milton Keynes, so that I might share my enthusiasm with other members through the club.
I’m not mechanically minded, though I am a bit of a petrolhead. I’m not computer literate, so I rely quite heavily on people who are more competent than myself I believe that belonging to a club should be a interactive experience, where we share opinions and enjoy each others company. I welcome opinions and suggestions from members on a daily basis, through e mail and text messaging and will do my best to give a prompt reply;

Having told you about how I became involved with the MX5 Club, I would be interested to know how others began their ‘MX5 lives’. I’d like start a website feature of member profiles and stories preferably with some nice piccys!
